Ariba…it's more likely to happen for you in Lagos than in Kano, for sure!

If Nigeria wants to settle the non-indigene/indegene issue it has to be constitutional…and it has to be enforced AROUND the country. No point trying to force the Plateau people to 'accept' the Chairmanship of an LGA by a 'non indegene' if a 'non indegene' cannot obtain a C of O or is forced to live in a 'Sabon Gari' settlement in Kano, Sokoto, Borno, etc.

What good for the goose has to be good for the gander…

I would like to give a brief history of Jos & its settlers. Historically the Anagutas, Jarrawas and the Beroms where initially the original indigenes of the town. over time various tribes came to settle in the the state of plateau to include the Ngas, Miyangos, Mwagvul, Ron/ Challas, Kuleres, Musheres, Goemais, Aragos, Madas, Egons and also the Yorubas , Igbos and the Hausas.

Now all these tribes have been able to live in relative peace with one another, so the issue of non-indigenes not having been integrated into the state isnt an issue.

Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna by recommendation of the native tribes in Jos issued that the Chief of Jos has to come from the initial natives namely: Anagutas, the Jarrawas and the Beroms. And no other tribe could contest the chieftainship, why then do the hausa tribe think that the should do so today?

I dont think any non-indigene can live in Kano or the northern states and try to become the Emir or the Sultan. Why are they trying this in Jos?

Dead on… The question therefore is, at what point does a non-indigen get the rights to be a full indigen?… e.g. let's say i live in Lagos as an igbo man for the past 30 years, will i ever get the right to run for gov, or even local govt chairman…. there has to be a resident system that makes non-indigens after a certain number of years, and x factors have the same rights as an indigen, from school advantages to govt offices.
