BUGZY BLACK: Biography
Nowadays the hip-hop music industry is filled with a lot of ‘bling bling rappers’. Emcees fail to come out with deep lyrical content, ethics or a significant story to tell. Bugzy Black is now bringing that hip-hop culture back to life!
Bugzy Black, aka Tha Architect, aka B-Black/Bugzy-B, was born Bugum Timothy Gyang. He is a talented up and coming rapper, performer, song writer and producer. Born on the 1st of October late 80’s, in Jos, Nigeria.
He was raised in various neighborhoods of J town, Abj and Lasgidi. Bugzy spent his early life in Jos, which helped him to work with other great talents and be around musicians such as Jesse Jagz, Skales, Ice Prince, Suka, G-Bits, Ruby, Adu Deme, M.I, GRIP Boys, Jeremiah Gyang, Lindsey, Mista Seth, Chopstix, Christine, Kahli Abdu, Mesh, OD and lots of others.
Re-designing the rap music of Nigeria is what B.Black is doing, hence the nickname ‘tha rap architect’. He’s also currently a student of architecture in the University. B-Black has adapted to the violent situation around him, which has influenced his passion for music by making him have a more aggressive and emotional approach. His lyrics are skillful and packed with loads of messages which he delivers with an incredible style.
A few artists who inspired Bugzy’s interest into rap music were; Bone Thugs, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, Nas, KRS One, Jay Z, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Canibus, Rakim, Immortal Technique, Ice Cube, Eminem, LL COOL J, Busta Rhymes etc. In his early studio life in 2006, he recorded a couple of songs with Jesse Jagz. He got great recognition/airplay in Jos at that time. Since then he has appeared on various features but didn’t release any new song till 2010/2011.
On his track “IN DA HOOD” (October, 2010) with Jesse Jagz, Bugzy painted a picture of the harsh/realistic way of life in the hood. It has lines such as “where kids don’t get allowances but wages…”/ “poor education, this nation lacks regulations, feds practicing peculation, they need federation, copycats in circulation, its emulation, ignore the speculations, cant spoil my reputation…”.
Tha Architect dropped a gospel joint titled “HOLY ARE YOU” (February, 2011) which has moved many people spiritually and is getting great airplay/online downloads. On this song he had lines like “your talent is God’s gift to you my people, and how you use it is your gift back to God –simple…” / “read your Bible’s, show honesty, don’t be ruse lords, preach the gospel, and if necessary -use words…”.
Bugzy Black has now released the much anticipated new single called “FEEL ME” which he features R&B singer ‘Mesh’ on it. This song is also produced by the extraordinaire producer ‘Jesse Jagz’. Download, Listen and give your feedback. Thanks!
B-Black is really a promising act in the Nigerian music industry. He is said to be working on a free mix-tape, titled yet to be released. Now that’s something to watch out for!
